Like most other blogging platforms, Wordpress is free. It stands out from it’s competitors for other reasons, such as a higher storage allowance (a quite huge 3 gigs) Also, Wordpress permits you to install their platform on to your own personal website, which most other blogging platforms don’t allow. Not only does installing Wordpress on your website allow for complete control, but you you can make use of the entirety of the bandwidth provided by your internet hosting plan. No more 3 gig limit!

It’s common for blogging platforms to let their users host images, but Wordpress offers another another benefit in that as well as hosting images, you can also host a variety of files including PDFs, Word documents and PowerPoint presentations.

The open source nature of Wordpress is a further reason for its popularity as a blogging platform. This gives bloggers a great amount of flexibility. This reason alone has drawn in many users that previously used the other platforms. Appearance and widgets can be customized completely, allowing you to create your version of a definitive blogging experience for your visitors.

Blogging Pays

October 7th, 2009

A blog, as defined by Wikipedia, is a type of website with different content–online journals, photo albums, and video libraries.”  The word “blog” is a unique combination of two words, “web” and “log”.  This ubiquitous word can also be used as a verb, meaning “to maintain or add content to a blog. Not everyone can be rich through writing, but some could achieve a level of financial comfort because of it.Many are realizing the income possibilities of maintaining a blog.

Blogs are becoming superstars in their own right as a legitimate publishing medium.  These days, the average rates per month for a minimum of five posts a week begins at $225 a month. This is not bad at all–for a few hours of work daily.  As people realize the business potential of maintaining a blog, many are now scrambling to get a piece of the action by carving their own niche in the blooming blogosphere.  With money left over from a cash loan, people with day jobs could invest on a good personal computer and a broadband internet connection and start their own blog or two after regular office hours.

Creating and maintaining blogs needs just a small investment–a laptop or PC, broadband connection, and free software programs.  All a fledgling blogger needs is publishing tools from the internet and tech gadgets and that blogger is all set to quickly post a myriad of information online.  Thus, many people—from regular employees to housewives—see themselves blogging to earn some spending money to pay bills or supplement that loss income and other benefits caused by the financial crisis.  Aside from availing fast loans when a financial emergency strikes, people can expect extra money from the blogs income generating features such as Google Adsense, Text Link Ads, and Ad Brite.

There is an emerging subculture on the internet made up of probloggers: people who blog for a living.  However, there are also misconceptions to be found in the scene.  Blogging is not just writing anything under the sun.By banking on its subscribers or followers, popularity, and credibility, its sole goal is to earn income.  The novice problogger needs to have a pulse on online trends or even a certain level of expertise when focusing on a particular subject or topic for the blog.  Importantly, as with any job or entrepreneurial undertaking, blogging involves a great deal of commitment and diligence on the part of the aspiring problogger.

Blogging For Profits

October 1st, 2009

Almost everything that starts off as fun on the Internet is inevitably turned into a money-making venture. And that’s not a bad thing. You might as well get your piece of the pie. Let’s talk blogging, for instance. You’ll be happy to know that there are five easy strategies that you can adopt to make money blogging.

The first method for making money blogging is known as Flagship Blogging. Using this method, you don’t expand beyond a few blogs. But you spand massive time and energy on these blogs daily. Each should be a popular niche area, and you should do all you can to make these blogs quite popular among people who are interested in that niche. Your ultimate goal is to create a flagship blog that is considered a must-visit site on the Internet, each with a large number of daily visitors.

Of course, the reason this method is not more popular is precisely because of the amount of effort required in it - in return for little to no immediate results. Building a truly profitable flagshop blog takes time.

Still, once the blog takes off, the monetary (and emotional) rewards are plenty. You will have created a true destination site on the Web, and it will have lots of options for bringing in money. One of the most significant monetization options is direct advertising sales.

The flagship blogging method is not for everyone. You should only attempt it if you know you have the niche knowledge, networking skills and marketing know-how to make it work.

A second popular method to make money online via blogging is the “pay per post” method. Using this method, you set up several niche blogs, either on free blog hosting sites such as Wordpress, or on your own domain. You maintain these blogs for a period of time, with your focus being on creating content and building up the sites’ Google PageRanks, Alexa Ranks, and link profiles.

You must spend the necessary time to submit each blog to pay-to-blog sites such as LoudLaunch, Review Me, PayPerpost, Blogitive, Sponsored Reviews, Blogsvertise, and others, for their advertisers to consider sponsoring your blog post about their product - which in reality are meant to sell products in the guise of a blog post.

Of course, the drawback is that there’s no passive income. It’s essential to spend time creating many sponsored blog posts, which you might find boring and/or time-consuming.

A third way of making money blogging is through automated blogging. This involves setting up some blogs that pull content automatically from search engines, RSS feeds and news sources, all of which serve as content for your site. The money then comes from context ads such as Google Adsense or similar programs. The advantage to this method is that, after you’ve set it up, you spend little time maintaining it. The disadvantage is that profits are likely to be quite low unless you set up a huge number of blogs (Commonly one such blog will provide you about $5 a month).

Blogging is fun. But it no longer needs to be only fun. You can also make some significant extra money, provided you use the right strategies. Try any or all of the above to see how your income can be enhanced.

If You Want Blog Income You Must Provide Real Value

September 30th, 2009

You’ve heard the stories about people making thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars a month from blogging. Well those stories really are true. Some people really do make that much. But most make little or nothing. One reason for the difference is the value the successful folks deliver.

Creating blogs is very easy and inexpensive. With just a little bit of training, most anyone can do it. So easy in fact that there are over 100 million blogs out there. But only a tiny fraction make any money. Perhaps the biggest reason is that most blogs, regardless of the effort their creators put into them, give the visitor nothing unique that would cause them to come back again.

Unless there’s something special about a blog, it will have little value to visitors, and will make very little (if any) money. Something about the blog must be unique and engaging. Either the content itself, or your opinions about the content, or in rare instances, the way your write. Blogs that could have been written by anyone, with contents that readers can find all over the web, just won’t matter to people.

When it comes to delivering unique content, it helps to be an expert in the niche the blog covers. A true expert in the field has an advantage. They can give information that you won’t find elsewhere. But since most people aren’t experts in the field they’re blogging about, they need to deliver the content in a unique way.

A moderate and uncontroversial style is the kiss of death for bloggers who aren’t experts in the field. It’s great if people love your style, but it is just as good if you make them angry. Drill it into your head that if you can’t engage your visitor’s emotions, and can’t give them unique information, your blog is doomed.

I hope you’re clear on the fact that you must deliver value, either in the form of unique content or emotionally-engaging style, if you want any chance of making serious blog income. If you learn how to do this properly, you’ll have conquered a problem area most bloggers never get past.
