Stress Control - 10 Effective Tips to Diminish Stress Resulting From Your Internet Business

October 19th, 2009

A lot of us elect to work at home to reduce the many difficulties associated with the typical nine-to-five job - things like an irrational supervisor, too much to do and/or foolhardy target dates.

But, we may soon discover that home working generates its own problems.  So, how do we deal with these brand-new difficulties?

1.  Create A Efficient Workspace

Make sure you have a private workspace, along with all the necessary gear like phone, PC, printer, fax, and so on. You’ll need a comfortable chair and a solid desk.  You can make your office area more welcoming by seeing to it that you have lots of space, lots of light - and, if you’re a feng shui afficienado, have somebody come in and feng shui your office!

2.  Drop Unnecessary Tasks

Go thru your “To-Do” List and eliminate anything that really doesn’t belong on the list, or anything that doesn’t definitely need to be done.  Be determined in your decisions - delete as much busywork activity as possible.  Doing so will not only save you the time you would spend attempting to complete those tasks - it’ll also save you the stress and mental problems related to worrying about those pointless jobs.

3.  Acquire Necessary Tools and Equipment

The proper tools make any effort much simpler.  Invest the money to get the basic equipment that you need to do your work.  And, if your situation permits, spend some additional money to get the equipment that ( while not totally necessary ) will simplify your occupation and make your life generally much less stressful.

Invest in a stable, automated marketing management system and let technology take care of lead management and order fulfillment chores for your business.

4. Engage a Personal Assistant ( s )

Determine tasks that are established, repetitive and not among your core processes.  Think about outsourcing them to a personal admin (which is much more affordable than you could think).  Candidates for outsourcing are bum marketing, web design, SEO, backlinking, lead follow-ups, etc.

5.  Create a Support Group

Working from home can become a particularly lonely activity.  Establish a powerful support network - this may be a bunch of comrades with whom you connect via the Net (e.g, forums, chat rooms ) or a local group in your community or church.  The important thing is to keep in regular contact with folks who are important to you - and who can appreciate what you are going thru as an entrepreneur.

6.  Manage Your Feelings

Don’t look for miracles or overnite success.  Establish a formal, or informal, association with a coach or friend who can help you set realistic plans and expectations - and help you stay inspired when things don’t go quite the way you need them to go. An online, or work-at-home business, is simply that - a business.  As such it requires a n ongoing supply of purchasers and products and vendors, etc.  Every one of those presents another opportunity for an issue to occur, skyrocketing your daily stress levels - just like the common 9-5 work.

7. “Chunk-It”

Your great and ambitious objectives may sound impressive, but taken as a whole, they can be extremely overwhelming and frightening ( e.g., “I need to be a millionaire” or “I wish to retire in 5 years”).  The best thing to do with such optimistic goals is to “chunk them,” i.e, break them into far smaller, more controllable bites and then make a plan to attain each of those smaller goals.

8.  Eat Healthy

Eat a healthy, healthy diet loaded in fruits and vegetables.  Cut down on caffeine ( coffee, black and green tea, cola drinks, and chocolate ).

9.  Workout

Exercise relieves stress, pushes oxygen to the brain, and offers a respite from stressful eventualities.

10.  Rest & Recreate

Try to take time in your schedule to breathe and do something that you enjoy, even if it is just for a short time.

One of the best blessings of a home{-based work-at-home} business is that you are now your own head honcho - but that is also one of the largest causes of stress in your life.  You are now the one individual who has to decide what jobs have to be done, when and by whom.
