Search Engine Optimization Company - which points to ask with regard to hiring a need to be treated with caution

September 15th, 2009

The Internet has expanded the scope of modern business world wide. The smallest of firms are doing global business by sitting at a computer, Doing business through the Internet does not require offices, mediators, wholesale agents, large scale advertisement in trade journals etc.

All you need is a good positioning of your site in search engines. This is achieved by what is called as Search Engine Optimization SEO. SEO is a science and an art, will help in the search engine position and your business specific keywords related to your site high-level. You will find many comanies that provide search engine optimization and such a company is called as an seo company.

If you plan to hire SEO company, it is best done as soon as possible. A good time is when you hire is planning to launch a new site or redesign an existing site. Thus you can use the services of the SEO Company to secure a good ranking on search engine websites.

While hiring an SEO company, you can ask the following relevant questions:

Can you show examples of past work and share some success stories
Do you follow Google Web master guidelines
Do you offer Online marketing services
What kind of results can be expected and within what time frame
What is your experience in my professional field / national / regional and international websites?
What are your crucial SEO Techniques
How long have you been operating in this business
What will be the means and type of communication between us- how will you let me know of changes you make on my website etc.

While SEO services are helpful in improving the status of your websites some of them have earned a bad reputation by being over aggressive in marketing and using unfair means to manipulate search engine rankings. Such unfair practices may result in decreasing your ranking on search engines or penalty such as removal of site from their index.

While using the services of an SEO company, be wary of the following facts:

Be wary of SEO firms that sent you unsolicited e-mails
Beware of those who have this commitment, such as the number one rank in the Google search engine.
Vigilant search engine optimization company whose activities are secret, does not disclose how they would be (read illegal measures), to promote your site.
Be wary of too many linkings offered by an SEO company s it will really not improve your search engine rankings.
Select wisely - do some research on an SEO firm before hiring them. Check whether they have been penalized for unethical practices etc.
Be sure the money you spend is used purposefully whether to achieve search engine results or for advertisement.

In Article Marketing Think About Your Readers

August 29th, 2009

The only real reason that online businesses pour so many resources into article marketing is to get more traffic.  That’s why the best web article writing services never lack business, and it’s why the top article directories never go begging for content.

Our articles accomplish this in one (or both) of two ways.  First, readers might click the links contextually embedded within our articles or within the resource box at the article’s end, and/or, alternatively, the major search engines can notice our article link and give greater important to that landing page on our site.  This latter option leads to more traffic, eventually, by sending us visitors who have found our page in the search engine results.

Trying to maximize our results from those two methods causes a problem.  The pages on our site to which we might want to send the article readers may not be our most desired pages for maximizing our search optimization resources.  Let me explain this problem in a little more detail.

Often we pay the most SEO attention to pages that generate revenue directly.  We are optimizing, in those cases, for searchers who are in a buying state of mind.

Our distributed article readers are not yet in they buying frame; instead they are often in the very early phases of information gathering.  That’s why they came to our article rather than going directly to a store or service provider.

Now, hang onto those two competing states of mind for a moment, while we consider how we construct pages on a business website.  One fundamental rule of marketing that applies to a good website design for a business is that each page within our site should be constructed in a way that contributes to creating only one action on the part of the prospect.  Whether that action is to buy our product, sign up for our mailing list or pet their dogs, we focus all our content on that page toward achieving that single objective.  So, if we absolutely obey the marketing rule, we can’t possibly optimize the most prized pages on the site and simultaneously satisfy the human reader–can we?

That is the dilemma we face.  Should we focus our article marketing efforts on search engine optimization or on sending our readers to a page that will offer them what they actually want at this stage?  Should we incorporate two objectives within a single page on our site, or ought we make a choice to abide by common sense marketing principles?

As we develop our overall article syndication strategy and the tactics of writing a single article, we must be attentive to these competing options.

Search Engine Optimisation Basics

August 19th, 2009

Search engine optimization SEO is broken down into 2 specific areas - On page and off page. Page optimization involves the optimization of all of your pages for keywords related sentence, in order to enhance their position in order to improve the search engine results

Write the original page name and description of each page. Do not copy and paste all the pages of the same label, as you said is basically a search engine if you do is’ my site every page is the same thing ‘.

Add the targeted keyphrases to the navigation links within your website. Rather than ‘click here’ you could use ‘click here for for Affordable SEO Services. Alternatively you could just leave out the words ‘click here altogether’, and just use the keyphrase as a link. Once you’ve decided on the keyphrases you want to target, edit your website copy so that it contains these keyphrases. Do not let this too obvious to repeat the sentence clumsy or written in order to adapt to them. When you write your content think like about your visitors - if the content is dull, repetitive or not relevant then the amount of keywords won’t matter as people won’t stay on your website for long anyway.

Sliding the mouse image on your site to check how they are asked. If their names do not include keywords such as ‘Image001.jpg.’ then take the time to alter the alt-tags and re-upload them. If possible, the name of the new rich keyphrase.

Search Engine Optimization is a long and sometimes laborious task but if you get the groundwork right from the start then it’s easy to build on. If you’re not interested in having a go yourself, and would rather employ the services of an SEO agency, there are plenty to choose from. To find local SEO companies in your area type ‘SEO Harrogate’ (for example) into Google. The company that appears at the top have got there by optimising there own site so they should know what they’re doing.

First off, you want to select one of all of these strategies and methods ways to do SEO. It’s actually easy to get lost in the start but then you may get more assured with each right step you make.

Making on-page optimization is the most reasonable step you can make first off. Page optimization means to clean up your Word density in the 2-4% of all the content, the establishment of appropriate meta tags (not essential these days, because the former) and tittles page.

If you’ve got any pictures on your site, do not forget to set your most important keyword as an alt text of these pictures. Having your keyword in the web site name is an excellent concept to raise your rankings too.

Website Designing Elements You Should Avoid to Have on Your Site

August 1st, 2009

As a web designer, you should design your websites to give your visitors the greatest ease of use, the best impression and most important of all a welcoming experience. It doesn’t matter if you had the greatest product in the whole world — if your website is poorly done you won’t be able to sell even one copy of it because visitors will be driven off your website by the lousy design.

When I’m talking about a “good design”, I’m not only talking about a good graphical design. A professional web design will be able to point out that there are many components which contribute to a good website design — accessibility design, interface or layout design, user experience design, SEO friendly and of course the most straightforward, which is graphic design.

Hence, I have highlighted some features of the worst web designs I’ve come across. Hopefully, you will be able to compare that against your own site as a checklist and if anything on your site fits the criteria, you should know it’s high time to take serious action!

1) Background music

Unless you are running a site which promotes a band, a CD or anything related to music, I would really advise you to stay away from putting looping background music onto your site. It might sound pleasant to you at first, but imagine if you ran a big site with hundreds of pages and everytime a visitor browses to another page on your site, the background music starts playing again. If I were your visitor, I'd just turn off my speakers or leave your site. Moreover, they just add to the visitors burden when viewing your site — users on dial up connections will have to wait longer just to view your site as it is meant to be viewed.

2) Extra large/small text size

As I said, there is more to web design than purely graphics — user accessibility is one big part of it too! You should design the text on your site to be legible and reasonably sized to enable your visitors to read it without straining their eyes. No matter how good the content of your website or your sales copy is, if it’s illegible you won’t be selling anything!

3) Popup windows

Popup windows are so blatantly used to display advertisements that in my mind, 90% of popup windows are not worth my attention so I just close them on instinct everytime each one manages to pass through my popup blocker (yes, I do have one like many users out there!) and, well, pops up on my screen. Imagine if you had a very important message to convey and you put it in a popup window that gets killed most of the time it appears on a visitor’s screen. Your website loses its function immediately!

In concluding this article, let me remind you that as a webmaster your job is to make sure your website does what it's meant to do effectively. Don’t let some minor mistakes stop your site from functioning optimally!

A Website Survey Makes Sense

July 11th, 2009

There are many tools available to a webmaster to analyse website traffic allowing them to monitor the number of visitors, see what pages have been accessed and even the length of time each visitor spends accessing the website.

However, despite the considerable data available what is missing is anything to tell the webmaster what the visitor was thinking. Did they dislike the website? Was the layout easy to understand or just plain confusing? Did they find it easy to navigate and maybe the most important thing, did they find the information they wanted?

A website may be generating sales but why are there some people that are visiting the website and not buying anything? Was it because they didn’t like what was being offered or they couldn’t find what they wanted?

Website surveys provide webmasters with an excellent and accurate method of answering these types of questions. Direct feedback from the website visitors means that there is no longer the need to guess, just ask the visitors how they found the site and if they found what they were looking for.

With an online survey webmasters can find out:-

  • How often do people visit the website?
  • How did they discover the website?
  • Is it for business or pleasure that they are interested in the website?
  • Was the information they were looking for found on the website?
  • How easy did they find navigating the website?
  • Would they recommend the website?

A good website survey will be short and to the point and gather good intelligence that once analysed will help improve the website.

Another alternative to a traditional survey is to embed one or two survey questions within the website after specific procedures. One example would be to ask visitors at the end of the registration process if they found the procedure quick and easy; another example would be after ordering an item the customer could be asked if they found the ordering procedure and payment methods to their liking. To ensure that the questions don’t become repetitive to regular visitors the website can be programmed so that the questions are only asked once per registered user.

Website surveys take the mystery out of working out what visitors think of a website and using Online Survey Software they are quick and easy to design and once implemented will really become the webmaster’s assistant.
